I’ve been buried in work on the photos from England and desperately needed a distraction. So rather than post a photo from my recent trip, I went digging for something totally unrelated.
On a recent family vacation, we were driving around in the country and out of the corner of my eye I saw this school bus yellow airplane. Being a bit of an aviation enthusiast, I recognized it as a DC3. If I’m not mistaken, it would have been from some time around the forties or fifties. So I thought I would see if I could get a better view and take some shots. There didn’t seem to be a decent vantage point from anywhere that I could see. In an attempt to get greater access, I entered the terminal of the very small general aviation airport where the airplane was parked and told them my dilemma. They said to just go in the gate and photograph the plane for as long as I like.
Thanks to a very understanding wife and family, I was able to spend probably 45 minutes shooting before I got a call from the car that it was time to seek out a public bathroom. That pretty much ended the photo shoot; but the photo below is one that I got during that session.
